My therapeutic style and approach is empathic, authentic, and warm.
I’m a Certified AEDP therapist, and I embrace the AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) community as my therapeutic home. My ongoing training and growth as an AEDP clinician and AEDP-informed clinical supervisor strengthens my ability to offer deeply relational and experiential emotion-focused guidance to foster healing, growth and change for those with whom I have the honor to work.
I also have advanced training in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for relationships and work well with couples who may have past relational trauma histories, issues around sexuality, betrayal trauma, loss and change related to life stressors, medical issues and aging.
I have also been intensively trained in experiential and relational EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and informed by IFS (Internal Family Systems) and parts work. DBT can offer practical and life-enhancing skills for more effective coping throughout our lives and can be integrated into our work together.
I received a Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from NYU (New York University) over twenty-five years ago and recently finished a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work (DSW) from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Policy and Practice (2022) in order to deepen my skills and passion for writing, clinical supervision and teaching.
Covid dramatically shifted the way psychotherapy is offered. So I focused my doctoral dissertation on how the therapeutic relationship has been affected by the pandemic and the transition to tele-health practice. “Undoing Aloneness in the COVID-19 Pandemic: How AEDP Clinicians Have Experienced the Shift to Telehealth and the Impact on the Therapeutic Relationship” can be found on the blog section of my website.
